ABOUT ME I was born in the town of Boden in 1980. Boden is located in the far north of Sweden, some distance inland from Baltic sea. It was then as it is today a town that revolves around its military base where many a young man (and as of a couple of years ago woman as well) has wasted a few months of their precious youth guarding barracks. Luckily for the child that was I my dear parents moved when I was only six to Umeå where I was going to stay until the ripe old age of 22. Despite Umeå being quite a musical town that has fostered talent such as for instance Refused it was a year in Australia back in 1998 that started me off. More precisely a nylon stringed guitar that Maureen, my host mother, dug out of some dark corner. Well back in Sweden I trodden along playing Dylan covers at different happenings at school and at cafées in town. Soon bands were starting to form. A music course at the University led to the first more permanent constellation, the name was Speakeasy. It included guitarist Kalle Malmqvist with whom I would start the band Strayfolk in Gothenburg only a year or so later. When the music course came to an end Kalle told me he was moving to Gothenburg. I did not have any plans at that moment and Gothenurg sounded like an exciting place. I got a place through sleep through a friend who was going to start studying there. We bought double seats on the night train bound south and moved all our belongings on that one trip. I got a job at a café called Publik on the infamous street Andra Långgatan. In Gothenburg I stayed for seven years and Strayfolk got to be an act with some local reputation, or so I like to think. We still play from time to time though I have moved again, , this time even further down south to Malmö.
